Transport. Protect. Relax.

About us

Way back in the summer of 2015, a few mountain biking buddies were out for a ride on one of their favorite trails near Boulder, CO. Sweat was pouring in the heat, and throats were parched in the dusty air. Luckily some ice cold brews awaited in a cooler back at the truck. The team quickly descended the final switchbacks and sped into the parking lot. Bikes were quickly discarded and helmets removed. It was not long before the sound of popping cans filled the air. A dropped tailgate offered a perfect place to sit and enjoy the post ride beverages. Even better, this particular truck happened to have had the added comfort of a protective tailgate pad attached to the gate. A little cushion for the legs never hurts. As the crew enjoyed their well-earned brews, somebody muttered, “Hey someone should add a backrest to this thing”. A lightbulb went on and the team got to work on their first prototypes. A year later the SwitchBack Protective Tailgate Pad was born.

Our goal at SwitchBack Pads is simple: to make being outdoors more enjoyable for everyone. Whether you're a biker, surfer, construction worker, hiker, or tailgater, we want your vehicle to be a convenient and comfortable spot to relax, whether your well-deserved down time is five minutes or five hours. Of course, SwitchBack products provide all the protection your gear deserves too.
